| 内容記述 | In recent years, the increasing number of foreign residents in Japan has highlighted the importance of multiculturalism. This trend is particularly noticeable in Tokyo, with Taito Ward experiencing a rapid rise in foreign residents. Furthermore, dissatisfaction with foreign tourists due to over-tourism has led to a tendency to generalise all 'foreigners' together, which has contributed to prejudice and resentment towards foreign residents. For local residents to understand the importance of multiculturalism and actively engage in it, collaborative activities involving both foreign and Japanese residents, as well as understanding and implementing policies within neighbourhood associations, which have traditionally been the backbone of local communities, are key. This paper reflects on the efforts of an intercultural society coordinator in Taito Ward and the initiatives undertaken in collaboration with neighborhood associations to promote multicultural coexistence. It also explores the challenges and progress towards building a more inclusive society. | |||||||||||||
