While the chemical composition of each tephra exhibits similarities, distinctive characteristics are evident. Notably, SiO2 values in the Holocene show an increasing trend from older to more recent eruptive events, suggesting a shift toward more felsic tephras. The major element composition of volcanic glass shards, constituting the tephra, serves as a vital indicator for identifying these layers far from the source volcano.
