Those are movement-limiter attached to a shoe and bridge restrainers using tie plates. This article examines seismic effects of bridge restrainers through investigation of damages during the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake,and figures out an irrational point of current design code. Impact response behavior of the seismic bridge-tie system is also found out through analytical study utilizing three-dimensional finite element code LS-DYNA3D for analyzing the large deformation dynamic response of inelastic solids.
