This paper aims at clarifying the spatial and temporal structure of urban heat island phenomena in Tokyo. As there have been only several meteorological stations in Tokyo,it has been difficult to gain detailed isothermal charts which show both temporal and spatial patterns of urban heat island phenomena in Tokyo. Annual mean daily minimum temperature patterns show typical urban heat island phenomena in Tokyo,where the center of high temperatures can be seen in downtown Tokyo. However,in case of daily maximum temperature patterns,the center of heat island moves to northern inland area,whereas low temperature appears in downtown and bayside areas. An attempt was made to clarify long term variations in daily maximum and minimum temperatures,and diurnal temperature ranges in Tokyo for the last 120 years.
