Many active faults called the Rokkou-Awajishima Fault System connect them. The Fault System caused the 1995 Hyogo-ken Nanbu Earthquake. Though a typical earthquake fault appeared along the Nojima Fault in Awajishima,most of damages were due to site effects. The heavily damaged zone appeared in the Kobe and Ashiya Cities. Geological and Geomorphological conditions,a hidden active fault under the recent deposits,movement of the southern extension of active faults lying in the Rokko Mountains,reflection of seismic waves from the basal rock and existence of old buildings are pointed out for the reasons of appearence of the heavily damaged zone. The main cause has not been made clear,but the heavily damaged zone might have been resulted from complex effects of these reasons., postprint}, pages = {5--18}, title = {1995年兵庫県南部地震の地震断層と地形から見た被害状況}, year = {1995} }
