However it cannot be denied that petroleum at the same time causes serious environmental disruption in the process of its consumption. To evaluate the positive and negatve effects of petroleum on an urban system,geochemical studies on the behavior of petroleum and other petroleum base materials are needed as a first step. Standing mass of liquid petroleum materials,asphaltens,plastics and waste plastics in Tokyo were estimated at 8×10^5,1×10^6,2×10^6 and 1×10kg,respectively.
