 note = {災害研究の目標の一つは，災害現象を社会変動論の枠内で検討することである。本論では，その準備作業として，まず，主としてアメリカにおける災害の長期的影響に関する諸研究をレビューし，この分野での研究傾向と主たるファインディングスを抽出した。こうしたレビューに基いて，災害の長期的影響の研究に付きまとう理論的・方法論的諸問題 - 例えば， 「長期」や「影響」の定義，社会変動論における「災害」の位置ずけ，影響の測定方法，等々 - について簡単に言及した。災害の長期的影響に関する本格的な研究は，その歴史も浅く，数も少ない。更にその研究方法も未熟であり，カバーされた災害の数や種類もきわめて限定されている。そのためか，今日，災害の長期的影響に関する研究においては，四つの相対立する見解が並立しており，極言すれば， 「災害の長期的影響」に関しては，未だ確定的なことは何も判っていないといえよう。, The article，at first，briefly summarizes fourteen American studies on long-term effects of disaster，giving outlines of the disaster studied. Each study is evaluated with some major findings，so that a little history of studies on long-term effects of disaster is uncovered. The history is characterized by some tendencies; (1) the span of “long-term” has been lengthened，(2) the focal point of analysis has changed from individual level to societal level，and (3) the method of study has been changing from case studies to comparative analyses of several disasters. Then，the present state of and the major problems in studies on long-term effects of disaster are discussed. The present state is that four different opinions have been given as to the long-term effects of disaster，and that none of them can dominantly outshine the others. The major problems indicated are as to (1) the difinition of “long-term” , (2) the definition of “effect”, (3) the definition of“effecter”, (4) the localization of disaster in the theory of social change，and (5) some methodological problems such as the total vs. the pure effects of disaster，the case study vs. the statistical study，the lack of data in pre-disaster situation，and the like., postprint},
