This paper mainly studied interpersonal relations in neighborhoods. It was carried out on residents living in public housing compounds of Tama New Town,Aoyama and Naze City,and residents of detached houses living in these three locations. Results ohtained were as follows. Urban residents do not prefer interpersonal relationships with those living in their own neighborhood. They have friendly relations with them by a factor of similality (child) rather than by physical factors (proximity). This tendency is typical to apartment house residents.
