In this study, the authors investigated the characteristics of these generators. Their percentage of ripple, percent average error (PAE), reproducibilities, X-ray output, photographic effect and exposure does were examined and a waveform analysis was performed. As a result, single phase and capacitor discharge type X-ray generators presented some problems as to X-ray output and exposure dose. The characteristics of the inverter type X-ray generator were excellent. It is desirable that high voltage waveforms of X-ray generators should be rectangular waveforms.
