The experiments involved a visual stimulus response task against a background image of driving scene in order to measure UFOV during pursuit eye movement, and an experiment to study mental workload by giving subjects a numerical task (recitation, addition) as secondary task. It was found that UFOV narrows markedly as mental workload increases. These results support existing theories that propose a mechanism for narrowing of UFOV associated with information processing resource and field of view width and depth.
