Especially, the consumption of urban\nresidents accelerated. But the consumptive ways of urban\nresidents were different for the income and hierarchy. In this paper,\nthe consumption ways and characters of urban residents in\nShenyang were investigated via visiting and questionnaires.\nFirstly , the author analyzed the generation and development\nof Mass consumption society consumption in different times of\nChina: feudalistic society, modern society , the beginning of the\nPRC and the innovation time , using the economy glowing stage\ntheory of Rostow, W. W. in ‘The stages in economy glowing'.\nThen the author investigated the urban residents in the top ,\nmiddle and bottom hierarchy in Shenyang, and analyzed the\ndifference among the three levels hierarchy in consumption via the\ndetailed rate and changing in income, outcome, foods , clothes and\ndurable goods . Briefly, the urban residents in Shenyang have got\ninto the common mass consumption society regarding the durable\ngoods like television and washing machine , and the consumption\nfor the top urban residents with high income increased a lot in\nfoods and clothes.
